Professional Feedback To Improve Your Home Recordings

Hi, I’m Jon Lesher. I’m a sound engineer and musician with over 20 years of experience in writing, recording, mixing, mastering, and releasing music. If you’re seeing this, odds are that means you’re a musician who’s recording new music right now. If you’re anything like I was when I was first getting interested in recording, you might be struggling to make your music sound like how it sounds in your head. How all the music you love, that inspired you to start making music, sounds. And sometimes, you just need to get out of your own head and get some outside perspective from someone who’s been there before. That’s where I’d like to come in.

Sound Engineer

I want to hear your music

Simple as that. I want to hear what you’re working on. If you’re recording yourself at home and struggling to get things sounding the way you want them to, I want to hear what you’ve got now, and I’ll give you some advice tailored to your recording of your song. Not some generic “use your ears” type advice you get online (No shit, use your ears. Why didn’t I think of that?). I’m talking specific to your needs advice to start getting your stuff sounding better with the gear you have at home.

Who is this for?

Honestly I won’t be the right guy for everyone. The bulk of my experience has been in rock, metal, and jazz. Nothing against other genres, I just don’t have the same experience. But if you’re recording guitars, bass, acoustic drums, actually miking up instruments and vocals, particularly in those genres, then you’re exactly who I want to hear from and who I can help the most.

What will you get from me?

I’ll give you advice on what you should work on to improve your recordings. I might give some feedback on mixing, maybe song arrangement and performance if you really want, but I’m mostly concentrating on the quality of your recordings here. I’ll give you advice on mic selection/techniques or general room acoustics advice, or things you can do to improve the instruments themselves, or your singing voice. Whatever you need to get your songs from where they are, to where you want them to be.

Getting your recording right at the start goes a long way to getting a great mix. It’s much easier to mix well-recorded tracks vs. fixing things in the mix. The results are always much better too!

I’m currently offering 2 tiers of evaluations. One is a free tier where you just send your mix as is, and I’ll listen to it and give you some feedback that I think will be the most helpful for you. The other, more in-depth option I’m currently offering at $50 per song. For that option, you send me all of the tracks and stems for one song and I’ll dig in to everything and give you more detailed feedback. And as a bonus, if you decide you’d like me to mix your song, I’ll apply that $50 towards your first mix with me!

Choose the plan you’d like below. If you don’t have everything ready to upload, that’s ok. An upload link will be emailed to you as well so you can finish later when you’re ready.

I can’t wait to hear what you’ve been working on!
